WHY?

WHY HE WANT TO BE A DOCTOR?

He became a doctor for several reasons. When he was 4 years old, he was burned on both his legs and he was in the hospital for about three months. He had three surgeries at the time for skin grafts and so on. This was a very formative experience – just seeing the doctors and nurses. And as he got older he enjoyed biology and that seemed to fit well. His uncle was a physician and he was able to see a little bit of what his uncle did. So all of those things were the main factors.

WHY OPHTHALMOLOGY?

Ophthalmology is something that he choose because in medical school you go through different rotations. He liked Internal Medicine, General Surgery, and Pediatrics – He feel like his specialty combines all of those. You see all kinds of diseases, you do exquisite surgery, you see patients of all ages – in what other field could he be a transplant surgeon, a prosthetic surgeon, an emergency surgeon, do international and overseas work? He conduct wonderful research as well. It’s really a very nice combination.
