1980: moved to Buffalo, New York.
1989: Graduated from Baltimore City College at age 11.
1991: He completed his B.A, Biology from the New York University at age 13.
1995: Doctorate in Medicine from Mount Sinai School of Medicine, became the youngest doctor in the world.
2001: Ophthalmology Residency from Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary at Harvard University
2002: After completing a fellowship for Cornea & Refractive Surgery from Duke University he joined the faculty of the Medical College of Georgia.
2008: He earned a PhD in Cell Biology from the Medical College of Georgia.
2010: Won the ARVO award.
2011: Ambati donate a kidney to 16 year old boy from Idaho.
2008-2016: He worked at the Moran Eye Center and served as professor of ophthalmology and visual sciences
2017: He practice in Eugene, Oregon at Pacific Clear Vision Institute.
